The full-on big brother (no pun intended) of the Facebook Disconnect extension featured here on PimpMySafari.

This extension will block Digg, Facebook, Google, Yahoo!, and Twitter from following you around the internet and observing your browsing behavior through widgets and tracking code on websites.

Show the Klout score on any twitter username by hovering. I find this quite useful, and I don't even really care about that stuff. I can imagine that a social media maven would be downright giddy over this.

Adds Facebook and Twitter to your Google+ stream. Plus a Gmail notifier to boot. Man, that's a lot of social media in one place.

Cleans up the twitter web interface to be much lighter in color and weight. Removes most images and other interference.

Warning: This extension made the logged-out homepage unusable for me. But then later it worked ok. If you find that twitter doesn't load, try disabling this extension temporarily.

Shorten URLs by clicking the scissors in the pop up window. In my test, it didn't attempt to use my own bit.ly account to shorten the URL, which would require that the author integrate with APIs. Maybe that's in the works.

If you're like me, you've got some folks in your twitter stream who tweet in multiple languages. I'm always wondering what they're talking about.

Like my buddy Rasmus routinely tweets in at least three languages.

For me, who has a constant rush of twitter updates (much more than 4 per 5 minute interval), extensions like this can be hit or miss. I also tend to have several windows open at one time, in which case I see the same tweets at the top of each window. This is an annoyance that prevents my enjoyment of many great Safari extensions (like the Times Breaking News extension)

But if you have a more reasonable number and behavior of people you're following, and don't want to miss a thing, AvianSafari could be just what the Doctor ordered. The interface is nice and well integrated into such a small space, with 4 or 5 tweets appearing in a reasonably sized window and controls over to the right. (It's hard to do it justice in the width of a blog post) Hovering and clicking bring a menagerie of nice animated effects while switching between tweets and mentions, or expanding to view an entire tweet.

Or, I can see this as a way to keep close tabs on your twitter mentions which, for most, come at a much slower clip.

AvianSafari has several of the options that any good Twitter client should, including update interval settings (to not use up all your API calls, choice of link shortener, as well as an option to use your own link shortener credentials.

If this doesn't make you want to go out and buy a mac just so you can use this extension on Safari 5, nothing will.
