Big update
We have big improvements thanks to big new 1Password and extension updates | Agile Blog
It may feel like a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, but today is the three week mark for Apple’s release of Lion and Safari 5.1. In that short time you’ve given us tremendous feedback in our forum and here on the blog, and we’ve been listening intently with a completely redesigned extension interface and lots of fixes. Now we’re back with another great round of gigantic performance improvements and bugs that, fortunately, are no longer with us.
It’s here (the new @1Password extension)
What’s here? Oh nothing… just the most fantastic 1Password extension design for Lion and Safari 5.1 on Snow Leopard of all time.
Looks amazing, but it's not updating for me

@arroz Yeah. Love 1password. Unhappy with the way the safari extension chrome has grown.
For those railing against Agile Bits and 1Password for changing from a plugin to an extension, here's why they were forced to make the change-over.

Saw the new @1Password extension briefly, then updated 1Password and it went back to older version
A pictures's worth a thousand words, see above.
But here's what happened...
I saw the tweets about the new version.
- I uninstalled the extension
- I restarted 1Password (without updating first)
- Got the notice to install the extension and let it.
The newest extension with the interface I see in 1Password's latest blog post was visible.
Then I upgraded 1Password.
I may have reinstalled the extension just to be sure that I followed all the steps, but I got the old version back again.
I've gone through the steps several times, with many option-command-Q restarts and I'm stuck with the 3.7.b2 somehow.
Anyone else?
Man these guys are really hammering.

1Password Data not Available error
Some 1Password users are experiencing this error when logging in with the new extension.
This issue has been discussed at the 1Password support forum, here, where the solution is generally to make sure you have the latest version of the Safari Extension.
You cannot be certain that you do have the latest version unless you disable Safari's automatic updates and update manually, or remove the extension and reinstall it through 1Password's preferences.
What to do When the New 1Password Safari Extension Stops Working
With the launch of Lion and Safari 5.1, 1Password has rewritten their plugin to be a Safari Extension. Apparently Apple changed some stuff up on them, forcing their hand in the change. But it's probably just better for them so they can get it listed in the Safari Extension Gallery.
I've had a good experience with the new extension up until just this afternoon when it went completely unresponsive on me. At first, I thought I ran into some catastrophic problem where all my logins were gone -- this is what some people are complaining about on Twitter.
After clicking around on the popup, it just became clear to me that the extension was somehow broken. None of the buttons did anything, which feels a lot like all my data is gone.
At first, I thought maybe another extension was interfering. (I install a lot of extensions!) So I removed all other extensions.
That still didn't work...I restarted Safari. No luck. I restarted my computer. No dice.
Next step, remove and re-install the 1Password extension. (Not sure why I didn't try this first!)
To re-install the extension, you need to do this through the 1Password app. Open preferences and under browsers is a button to install the extension in Safari. This just kicks off the normal extension installation routine.
When I did this, everything started working again.
no, this is a compliment.

Really NOT digging the new 1Password extension for Safari. Interface is clunky, way too visually demanding and generally gets in the way
Now that's a compliment!

1Password's new Safari extension has finesse. Nice touch.
There are many critics, but personally, I think the new extension is great.

... have released a total of six updates to the new Safari extension and an update to the main 1Password app. Now that our extension is an official Safari extension, Safari should check periodically and update it automatically. But just in case, here’s our how-to guide if you want to update right away. Of course, these features and fixes are all in addition to the great stuff we can do with this new extension that could never be possible with the previous format. If you don’t know about all the new extension’s tricks like keyboard shortcuts and a better view of your data, you should definitely check out our intro document and FAQs, as well as our installation guide if you still need to get setup with Safari 5.1 on Snow Leopard or Lion.
Awesome update, and amazing work to crank this out in such a short time and under such heavy fire from the user base.
