  • Description: Lets you assign keystrokes to tab actions.

Another one for the keyboarders out there, available actions include opening, closing, reloading, and switching tabs. You can use unmodified character keys or combinations with Shift and/or Option. You can assign up to three different characters for each action.

After activating, TabKeys wouldn't work for me until I restarted Safari. Actually, in hindsight, it probably would have worked with any new tabs without a restart as it is javascript that needs to be injected into each tab to work.

Unfortunately, TabKeys cannot work in certain types of tabs, like new tabs with no content or the Top Sites view. This puts a big speedbump on the Previous and Next tab keystrokes. This is simply a limitation of Safari as it doesn't inject extension javascript into these types of tabs. Most extensions do go dead on blank tabs.

Otherwise, being a keyboarder, I like this extension.

Nice update in version 2.0:

New in Tabkeys 2.0: You can now define any number of web addresses, including bookmarklets, and assign a hotkey to each. If a hotkey is assigned to a web address, Tabkeys will open the address in a new tab; if it's for a bookmarklet, Tabkeys will run the bookmarklet in the current tab.
