After quite a period of inactivity, PimpMySafari has gone through some significant changes in the past few weeks.
Until recently, plugins were complicated topics requiring plugins like SIMBL to allow developers to get in and hack up the Safari interface. Being a Safari lover myself (but often cheating with Firefox and Chrome for the web development extensions), I always come back to Safari. And in my desire to make it do more, I came across PimpMySafari many times in the past years.
With the new Safari 5, this all changes and great new features are appearing every day. I was disappointed to see that this website wasn't keeping up.
Long story short, coincidentally, I stumbled on the opportunity to acquire this website and save it from it's untimely retirement. And here we are.
Who am I? I'm Scott Jangro, and like you, I'm an apple fan. I'm also a web developer, entrepreneur, geek, dad, golfer, and a pretty cool guy (or so I'm told).
I'm still trying to figure out the exact angle I want to take here, but I'm pretty sure I don't want to make a blog post about EVERY Safari Extension that comes down the pike. Besides, Jonas Wisser is doing a fantastic job with that over on his tumblr blog. Tumblr is the perfect platform for that.
I'll certainly do lots of writing and curating of the extensions that I think are great (which is a lot of them), as well as some other Safari news and info.
But I'd also like to get the community involved. So I put in a quick forum where you can make suggestions for new plugins, talk about existing ones, and discuss development of plugins with other developers. Check out the PimpMySafari Community.
I'm using tal.ki now so I could get something going fast. If this is successful, I'll move to a more robust solution.
Of course all forums must start empty, but I'm hoping that it'll spark some interest.
And I'd love to hear feedback from you on what you'd like to see here.
