Some websites have URLs on the pages without them being clickable as hotlinks, like this:
http://www.pimpmysafari.com
Safari has a built-in feature where if you highlight a URL and right-click, you can visit the url by choosing the "Go to address..." context menu option.
But, it doesn't work on all URLs, and it does require that you select the URL and right click. Those extra clicks just aren't necessary thanks to the text2link Safari extension.
With this extension, you can just double-click on a plain text URL to open it. You can also open it in a new tab or new window with some configurable key modifiers.
Here are a few things I like about this extension:
Well first, it's a natural action to use. It handles some very mangled URLs, like hxxp://domain.com It doesn't trigger a http referer in the browser. So people's efforts in not making URLs clickable for purpose of not generating http referers (for whatever reason) are not defeated.
