KeySearch Safari Extension

Description: KeySearch adds a new way of searching the internet to Safari. It uses short keywords to allow you to search any site you want, right from the toolbar.

While browsing the web, just press Control-S or click the toolbar button to bring up the KeySearch bar. Then just type a keyword followed by your search query.

As you're typing your search query, you see a preview of the URL that will get submitted. There's an option for a default search (Google, of course, but that's customizable) and additional searches are executed with a keyword like "map", "youtube", etc. You can name your own keywords.

It has several configuration settings, which are configurable via modal popups.

KeySearch comes with plenty of ready-made keywords, and it's really easy to add your own. Editing your search keywords is also done via a modal popup window.

KeySearch is a great example of how to design a very nice Safari extension, with well designed interface and plenty of user options for configuration and behaviors.

This same functionality is available in some of the older plugins like Glims and Stand, but if you don't want to run plugins like those, this is a well implemented alternative that's just a bit easier to use with the interface elements as opposed to re-using the address bar.

Now if only Safari would allow me to remove the search box that's coupled with the address bar! For now I've got it shrunk down to a minimal size.
