Hover Bubble is quite the cool plugin that's an alternative to the status bar at the bottom of the safari window. It displays the destination of a link that you're hovering over, providing a number of options. Best shown by example:
As I hover over the link (while holding down the ctrl key), a pop up appears displaying the destination.
Hover Bubble has a number of configuration options, including sound effects!
